Florida’s premier Presidents’ Day Weekend tournament for boys and girls teams. In 2011, the Weston Cup had 454 teams from throughout Florida, multiple states, and international teams from Ireland and the Dominican Republic that competed at four facilities which included over 30 playing fields. Teams from outside Florida, including international teams participate each year. The tournament will offer four levels of competition: Showcase, Gold, Silver, and Bronze for U9 through U19 boys and girls teams, plus a special U8 division (U9 Future Stars). For 2012 we are expecting over 450 teams from out-of-state, across Florida, and internationally. Welcome,
This information is provided to all potentional players to the AYSO Adult League. The Adult League is run by Carlos De Biase and Eddy Woiski. This league runs hand in hand with our youth program. Richard Schwartz is the Commissioner for both the Youth and the Adult Leagues. We require that all members of Adult program volunteer time to the Youth program. The league runs from September thru May. There are 11 teams, each team will roster 18 players. Each team plays every other team twice for a total of 18 games, not including playoffs. Games are played on Sunday either at 8:00 AM or 9:40 AM depending on your schedule. Each player is provided a full uniform, except for shin guards and cleets, which are required by the league. League players are also entitled and have preference over none league players for our Tuesday and Thursday night pick up games. We have open registrations, first come first served, starting in July. Registrations fees are as follows:

-  Sunday Men's League $200.00
-  Tuesday/Thursday Pick-up $100.00

In order to qualify as an Adult League Player certain requirements must be met:

-  Must volunteer a minimum of 15 hours as referee or field marshall, coaches and assist.coaches for the youth program are exempt, but are welcomed if they would like to help.
-  Must take a Safe Haven and Referee course.
-  Help with repairs and re-netting of goals prior to the start of each fall season.
-  Help with AYSO State Games when they are held at the West Regional Park.

For those that do not make it for the Sunday league we offer the Tuesday and Thursday night pick up games at a much lower cost. By registering and paying to play Tuesday/Thursday nights you will automatically be placed on the waiting list to play on Sunday and gives you preference over non league players when teams are picked for pick up games. As a member of AAL you must also volunteer hours for the youth program either as a referee or field marshal.
All fees are subject to change.

Future LegendsWest Pines United is proud to announce a great accomplishment for the Future Legends FC U8 Boys team. After attending the Challenge 3 v 3 National Tournament at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports for the 3rd straight year, this young team proved too much for the competition by once again stepping onto the podium at the end of the tournament as 3-time National Champions. By generating (69) goals for and allowing only (10) goals against in (7) games, Fabrizio Cubeddu, Zachery Haynes, Sebastian Lago, Memphis Parker, Aidan Morris and Federico Tellez unselfishly played “team ball” game after game. Coaches Haynes and Parker were equally impressed with the accomplishments of these young players sportsmanship off the field, where many parents/coaches personally praised the good behavior of our boys.

us soocerUS Soccer put together one of the best guidelines on youth soccer heat stress.  The article focuses on the factors that put young athletes at risk of heat stress and discusses prevention techniques, fluid guidelines, signs of dehydration, muscle cramping, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.  Since we live and play in a hot climate, heat stroke becomes a real possibility when it is above 90 degrees.  This is a must read for all coaches and parents.

volleyball playersA concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury, or TBI, caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head that can change the way your brain normally works. Concussions can also occur from a blow to the body that causes the head to move rapidly back and forth. Even a “ding,” “getting your bell rung,” or what seems to be mild bump or blow to the head can be serious.

 Concussions can occur in any sport or recreation activity. So, all coaches, parents, and athletes need to learn concussion signs and symptoms and what to do if a concussion occurs.

US Youth Soccer has thought long and hard about the answer to the question, "Why Small-Sided Games?"

What does "Small-Sided Games" mean? These are soccer games with fewer players competing on a smaller sized field. These are fun games that involve the players more because fewer players are sharing one ball.

All ages can play "Small Sided Games", but it has a definite developmental impact on our younger soccer players. US Youth Soccer recommendations for "number of players" at the various age groups are as follows:

U6 | 3 against 3 no goal keepers
U8 | 4 against 4 no goal keepers
U10 | 6 against 6 with goal keepers
U12 | 8 against 8 with goal keepers
U13+ | 11 against 11 with goal keepers

1. Because we want our young soccer players to touch the soccer ball more often and become more skillful with it! (Individual technical development)

2. Because we want our young soccer players to make more, less-complicated decisions during the game! (Tactical development)

3. Because we want our young soccer players to be more physically efficient in the field space they are playing in! (Reduced field size)

4. Because we want our young soccer players to have more individual teaching time with the coach! Less players on the field and less players on the team will guarantee this! (Need to feel worthy and need to feel important)

5. Because we want our young soccer players to have more, involved playing time in the game! (More opportunity to solve problems that only the game presents)

6. Because we want our young soccer players to have more opportunity to play on both sides of the ball! (More exposure to attacking and defending situations)

7. Because we want our young soccer players to have more opportunities to score goals! (Pure excitement)

These are the reasons why we adults must foster "Small-Sided Games" in our youth soccer programs. The "Small-Sided" environment is a developmentally appropriate environment for our young soccer players. It's a FUN environment that focuses on the young soccer player.
It just makes sense doesn't it?

http://www.nays.org/rateyourcoach/

The National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) would like to encourage you to evaluate your child’s coach so that your league can better provide a fun, safe and positive sporting experience. Your evaluation serves as a great tool for coaches to attain useful and immediate feedback on how they are performing at anytime during the season. League administrators will have full access to evaluators’ identities and results, while coaches will only be able to see anonymous overall results.

Required: In order to rate a coach you must have a coach’s NYSCA member ID number. You may attain this number by simply asking your child’s coach or League Director.

If your coach is not a NYSCA member, we encourage you to contact your League Director to discuss the benefits of offering the program to the volunteer coaches, including the capability to rate the coaches. Please visit our home page at www.nays.org and click on the coaches’ link to learn about the NYSCA.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you are a Coach, becoming part of NAYS is a valuable tool as it provides many member benefits.  All West Pines Youth Recreational Soccer Coaches are members of NAYS and have a member number.
We break up our divisions according to age. We have 3 divisions; 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12. Both novice and advanced players are encouraged to participate. We offer two locations to play(depending on availability). Players can register at the Youth Enrichment Center in East Miramar or Sunset Lakes Community Center in West Miramar.
The cost of the program is $45 for residents and $54 for non-residents (includes uniform). Games are played inside the gym using an Indoor Soccer ball with less bounce.  Referees will use adjusted rules for each age group. We conduct a draft prior to the start of the season in order to balance the teams as best as possible. All the coaches are volunteers who decide their own practice times. Volunteer coaches are always needed; please sign up on the registration form. Each team will play a minimum of 8 games; the top 4 teams in each division will advance to the playoffs and compete for the championship. At the end of the season, each player will receive an award for their participation.
We conclude the program with an East vs. West All-Star game and coach’s game.
Simon, Alan, Jude, Walte and Noah showed heart and skill as they navigated through all the teams in the tournament.
Plantation Copa beat the South Florida Panthers U9 team 4 to 3 in an exciting nail biting finals match.
Congratulations to Plantation and to the South Florida Panthers team for a job well done!
